Convert Room to Custom Office – Full Design and Install

Steve was hired by a retired MD to convert a room into a completely customized office in her house.  Check out the fine finish carpentry work.  Here’s what the MD had to say about Steve’s work:

I wanted to convert a spare room into my full time office so I google searched for Boulder Carpenters.

Since I am a retired MD and wanted to have a classy and comfortable office and I knew I needed a highly qualified and experiened carpenter in Boulder.

I worked closely with Steve to design and then build the entire office.

I showed Steve photos from a book on Victorian Style Room designs and he helped me sketch the design and size the features for the room specifically with the wainscoting.

I also worked with Steve to design and build the computer cabinet.

Steve went to mill shops and brought me several samples of moldings for me to pick from.

As you can see in the pictures his work is excellent.

He put in custom cabinets with doors, shelves, and all of the crown molding and wainscotting and did the fine finish carpentry work.

I was so pleased with his work that I hired him to do other handyman work around the house and in the barn. One of the things he did was source, purchase and hang a really high quality heavy duty door.

He also did a complete repair and refurbish of my original Flexible Flyer sled that my grandkids accidentally damaged – which was very sentimental to me.

I heartily recommend Steve to others who need custom finish carpentry work and anything else custom in their home. He’s a great all-round handy man too.

Hardwood Tongue and Groove Floor with Custom Celtic Knots Inlaid

Steve had been doing custom hardwood floors for his clients for years and he finally decided to do his own.  This is in his own house.

Custom Stairs with Onsite Custom Designed and Cut Carriages (carriages are the angled beams that the stair treads sit upon)
Custom New Red Oak Stairs

Steve built these stairs for Todd. The original stairs were creaky, sloped and made of cheap particle board. The new all red oak stairs were shimmed and securely anchored to the existing stairs to be completely level and squeak-free. The stairs have been in for about a year and they are still completely silent. (Pitty for Todd. Now his teenage children can sneak out of the house MUCH easier!)

Steve did my stairs in all oak. They were rickety and squeaky. But not any more. Solid, nicely finished. Zero squeaks! I love ’em. Put in a great handrail, too. All along he kept asking me how I wanted the details and fed me information on what my options were so that I could choose well. He also helped me put in the maple hardwood floors in the master bedroom with a custom band around the edge and other beautiful details in the closets. Definitely recommend him for stair and finish carpentry work and he works for a fair price.

Exterior Finish Carpentry – A-Frame Additions and Remodel for full-time living

The A-Frame needed significant improvements in order to make it much more livable for a year-long residence. A new set of French doors was installed after removing an old window. The before and after photos are below. Also the deck was nearly falling down and needed considerable structural repair and new stairs in order to make it fully functional.
